POOR BABY!!

Our baby boy had to have a minor outpatient surgery last Wednesday. All went well. The next day he was AMAZING. Such a tough little guy.

Then Friday things took a turn for the worse. He started to run a high temp of 104 and was VERY lethargic and wouldn't eat very well. The surgeon told us to go to the ER to run tests. We went to the ER and after A MILLION TESTS they still couldn't tell us what was wrong with him. They were concerned because he didn't show any signs of a cold and all his lab results were coming back normal except for a very high White blood cell count. They knew he had an infection from the surgery but didn't know where. They had done so many tests that they decided to do a spinal tap. So this poor child in a span of 2 days had surgery, numerous IVS, he was intubated, had a catheter, x rays, Blood labs taken, 2 epidurals and a spinal tap.

I cannot begin to explain the pain I was feeling in this picture. I felt so helpless as a mother and it broke my heart to see his little face looking to me for comfort when I couldn't possibly do anything to help.

We went to sunrise hospital everyday until Monday and they gave him antibiotics. To this day we still don't know what he had but he is better and that's all that matters.

My husband is so good about being humble and knowing that things could always be worse. He is a great support to me  BUT I have to say that as a mother even though this wasn't that bad on the grand scheme of things, I have never been through anything this heart wrenching. My heart goes out to all mothers and fathers that have to deal with their children's health in jeopardy.

I wanted to say thanks to my mom for coming down to the hospital with me to hold my hand. I might be a mother of 3 and ALMOST 30 but you always need a mom. She means so much to me. My mom also took the girls to pick out toys for the baby when he got out of the hospital, which was a huge hit.  There are times when I truly don't know what I'd do without her.

THANK YOU so much to those of you who came by, called, dropped off dinner or treats or took my poor girls out of the house. The love and support means so much to me. To those who didn't get a phone call back or had no clue what was going on, I am sorry but I wasn't in the right frame of mind to talk.

Lets hope next week goes a lot better!!!

I am so glad to hear from you. I have been thinking about you all week, wondering how things are. I didn't want to call because I know you have had your hands full since we talked last.

I am so happy to hear baby Johnny and his mama are doing better. I love you guys!

PS - Did I tell you how much it meant to me that you guys came by before we left? Dinner and Caden's present were so nice of you, but just hanging out was fun enough for us. We miss you!

I hate when stuff like this happens. It really is not the fun part of being a parent. I am so glad he is doing better. He's a tough little guy. I love the picture of you with him...even though it wasn't a happy situation...you love your kids and it is sweet!!

That is soo sad. I am glad that he's doing better. I can't imagine how heart-wrenching that must have been. So sweet.

Definitely one of the hardest "mommy moments." Your face in that pic says it all. So glad he is on the mend!
